What an absolutely ethereal experience. I had known and walked past Indochine many times over the years and had never had the opportunity to come for drinks or dinner. My fiancé and I were intrigued by the menu ambiance and reviews online and we agreed we had to go.
I contacted the receptionist early yesterday morning inquiring whether to make a reservation for two for that evening. She was very friendly and assured that if we arrive between 7:15-7:30pm we could simply walk in. We were about an hour or so behind due to babysitting arrangements for our child. We apologized to the very friendly host and hostess who also guaranteed that it would only be a few minutes and that we could enjoy a cocktail at the bar. We sat and had a very attentive bartender who gave us great suggestions on wines and whiskeys.
Within moments there was a very lovely table ready for us in the corner. We were blown away by the decor and how cozy the ambiance was. The patrons were glamorous and eclectic. The servers were dressed to the nines and very friendly and welcoming. We split the summer shrimp and chicken rolls served with in my opinion the best peanut sauce I have ever consumed. Then we split an order of the Shaking Beef-which was so delicious we sat in complete silence devouring such a wonderfully flavored steak. Our server was very busy at the moment when it was time for us to order another round of drinks, we caught the attention of another server asking if our server could put in another drink order for us. She gladly said no worries I'll put that in for you right away and moments later drinks arrived to our table. Talk about amazing teamwork and customer service! We capped off our evening there with some delectable espresso martinis while enjoying some amazing music playing on the speakers.
I have never had such a wonderful dining experience in my entire life and let me tell you that I will be returning in the very near future. Indochine is a gem and a true staple in fine dining.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amanda W.Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos123517246216 may 2024Reseña actualizada
We were there for a graduation dinner after NYU graduation. Place was packed but we had a reservation and was seated right away. Food was delightful. I always order glazed duck, we ordered 4 ducks, beef, fish, and sautéed rice. Everyone enjoyed our meals and my kids and their friends had cocktails. Party of 5 and good service. This is one of my favorite restaurants from my childhood. Now it's an old people's hang out pre theater. Not that anything wrong with it but a different vibe.

I am not sure if I picked the wrong night but it had an old people's vibe. It became like an old people's gathering spot. Not that anything wrong with it. Food was delightful. The service was decent. I guess my expectations were too high. But it must be good that they are still in business.

Great modern asian-fusion option. Reminds me a bit of other upscale asian-fusion restaurants in NYC (tao, buddakhan). Overall really good food, but not a huge fan of the prices (and portion sizes).
Recommend doing family style with the table so you can try a bit of everything. I went with some friends and tried the summer rolls, salt/pepper shrimp, charred cauliflower, duck breast, and barbecued chicken. Definite stand outs were the roasted duck - some of the most tender duck I've had.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2132223030 ago 2023
The first word that comes to me regarding this place is pretentious... It is it a snobby restaurant on the wrong area, hence high prices, and not much to do about it.
The crowd is eclectic to say the least. The ambience is hopping, the music is loud, and the service is on point; that being said, the food is definitely nothing to write home about.
The sashimi was bland & tasteless, the shrimp were uneventful and the duck Was probably the best of all three, I had to have some white rice just to fill me up and went for a taco afterwards.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 4 nov 2023
Still a happening scene at Indochine even after all these years. Great vibe and a lot of energy. The food is very good, although the menu has been the same for over a decade. The service is good as well.

Amazing food. Superb service. Vibes inside looked 10/10 although we sat outside which was cozy and a great vibe for a semi big group (we were 7 ladies). Inside looked super trendy and great music. Food was excellent and drinks were great. I'd like to add that we had one of us that had a pretty strict allergy and our server really went above and beyond to help accommodate her needs. Wish I remembered her name but she was tall and beautiful - shoutout to her for being so helpful. This place is a must try.

Since Le Colonial closed, we have been looking or another Vietnamese higher end option. We were pleasantly surprised by Indochine. The food was really good and the service was also very good.
We had:
- Branzino Crudo - very good, with micro green
- Chilean Sea Bass - delicious and very light
- Shaking Beef - very good
- Cauliflower Side - tasty
- Roasted Pineapple with Coconut Ice Cream - delicious and refreshing
Don't get me started on the people watching, probably one of the best places in the city. Overall a lovely meal!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 2 ago 2023
i wish i could go back in time and uneat this meal. I would only go back for drinks and an appetizer. The gin drink I got was soooo good and surprisingly strong. The prices are heinous even for new york, and trust me I love to splurge for exceptional meals. But $18 for 1 mid fresh roll. Also both rice dishes were inedible. My white friends loved everything so they are doing something right.

We picked this place for a friend's birthday on Saturday night. During the entire dinner, we had to scream at each other as we couldn't hear anything. The noise level was too high & the diners sitting next to us were nearly yelling at each other to carry out their conversations . Thumbs down. Not to my liking. The appetizer, Vietnamese ravioli was quite tasty but the main menu we had was mediocre . The portion was large enough to share but the staff should have told us beforehand as we couldn't finish the three dinner plates we ordered for the party of three with the price range of $50 per person. Two shared plates and one or two side dishes would have been sufficient for our party . Not sure if I would be back.

Staff was inept and rude to the point where it ruined my meal. The food was actually good but the hostesses and wait staff turned my dinner into the most unpleasant dining experience of my life, no exaggeration. I will never return and would urge anyone reading this to avoid at all costs. There are plenty of other restaurants out there with good food and an inviting atmosphere. The entire time I spent at Indochine, I felt unwelcome.
