La Playa de Lavapiés

We came here because we wanted something other than the typical Spanish food. The decor and signage look inviting. We got to sit at a table that was in the window frame, so that was pleasant - to be outside but not at the same time. Anyway, we both got crepes...and unfortunately, they were a disappointment though the plating was nice. The crepes were very thin and crispy (not my preference). The spinach inside was not wilted, so it made it messy to eat. The flavors were alright, but compared to ones I've had in France or even the US..it just fell flat.

Also, the minimum is 10€ to use your card.

La Playa de Lavapiés is a perfect place for a lazy Sunday afternoon drink after stuffing your face in my favorite Senegalese restaurant nearby. The drinks are affordable, and the terraza is quite large, stretching past the good part of the sidewalk. Bathrooms are hit and miss for cleanliness, but that's to be expected, I'd say. Just be careful not to get too much sand in your shoes when you're inside! It's a nice way to do a "staycation" in Madrid and still get some sand on your toes.
