Mikuna is born from Francesco's head waiter and chefs. So happy to have visited recently because the food is more amazing than ever. Visited with my in-laws who have been several times and raved about how great the food and service was. They did not lie.
Experienced A+ service from beginning to end. We shared a Causa Nikkey and a Ceviche de Rocoto Cremoso (corvina only) to start. Causa blew my mind. Traditional yellow potato + aji causa stuffed im between with crispy corvina and then some more to top it off. My favorite dish was this. Rocoto Ceviche was amazing too - ultra fresh and on point. Grab a spoon and drink that leche de tigre until the last drop.
For mains we ordered Corvina Saltada with Risotto de Frijoles Blancos. O M G. I could eat the entire pan of Risotto. Totally amazing. I love white beans and never had I tried a risotto using them as ingredient. Huge plus for originality.
To close, we shared Mousse de Lucuma with Brownie. A Peruvian classic that must not be missed. Lucuma desserts are my absolute favorite and Mikuna's delivered 100%. Made from real pulp, this is the REAL DEAL.
Overall, Mikuna serves high quality Peruvian cuisine and provides a fantastic service experience from the moment you arrive until you leave. Enjoy!!

Wow!!!!
My new favorite Peruvian restaurant, the lunch menu is fresh and exciting, and the dishes match that description. The place opened upon not too long ago I had hesitated since prior establishment was eh... what a pleasant surprise!!! Just check out the pics, fresh, flavorful, delicious. Service was impecable and restaurant beyond clean and comfortable. As I said, my new favorite Peruvian place! Pricing a tad higher than the norm for lunch but well worth it! Totally recommend if Peruvian is your flavor today!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 563688302827 jul 2018
WOW! Absolutely loved Mikuna. In the ancient Quechuan language, "mikuna" means the food, the meal or the soup. Very apropos! A coworker & I decided to walk over and try this unassuming spot tucked away on Alcazar between LeJeune & Salzedo. We walked in around 12:15 & there was only 1 table occupied. The restaurant is sparsely decorated with large photo prints of Incan Temples, Mach Pichu & other Peruvian vistas. We were given our choice of tables, seated & promptly served ice water. Not 2 minutes later, the busboy was back with delicious, fresh-out-of-the-oven rolls. The menu is extensive and for $23, they offer a 3-course lunch special. We went with that! For starters, I had the Fish Wontons (oddly delicious & not greasy, although a little heavy for a first course) & my friend had the salmon ceviche which was as wonderful! For the entree, they were able to make adjustments to the menu item whose sauce included cream & butter. At the suggestion of the water, I had the corvina instead with an olive oil, garlic & parsley sauce which was so simple but spectacular with the perfectly cooked fillet! A squeeze of lime brought it to mythic proportions! While I was delighted when the plate arrived to see my white rice molded into a pyramid, the taste was not very good. My friend had the Lasagna del Mar and he said it was super delicious as well. For dessert, the options were Suspiro Limonella (a flan like custard with a merengue topping) and a mango cheesecake. Because I am avoiding dairy, again our waiter provided the option of an espresso. All in all from the service to the delicious & fresh food, Mikuna is sure to be one of my new favourites!

Quality is the main word to describe this Peruvian restaurant. Even the bread rolls were good. We started with a glass of Castille Pinot
Grio wine. It was so light and smooth, I had to order a bottle. Causa with mixed vegetables was light and tasty for appetizer. Mediterranean salad was excellent. Parihuela soup was good. Fish was good and came with a white bean and rosetto mix, pancake size on the side that was different and very tasty. Service was personable and excellent.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nadelia C.Palmetto Bay, Estados Unidos40756313 ago 2018
From the outside you might possibly drive by Mikuna and never give it a second look. I'm glad we did! This is authentic Peruvian cuisine at its finest. My husband and I decided to come for lunch on a rainy Friday afternoon and I was in the mood for ceviche. We did a little research and decided on Mikuna. Smart choice! This is a small bistro type restaurant on a side street in the Gables, Alcazar. It would make a great date spot as it's intimate and romantic. Their lunch menu is not too extensive but had many of the Peruvian delicacies we were in the mood for. We looked at the Miami spice menu and liked what we saw.
We both had the ceviche rocoto for appetizer. It was deliciously tangy and had a wonderful texture, it included sweet potato, onion and those big pieces of Peruvian corn which I absolutely love!
For my entree I had the seco de pescado which is a fish in a light cilantro sauce and although it tasted good and the fish was not over cooked (which is an issue at some restaurants ) it wasn't good enough for me to have again. Next time I go I'll definitely opt for something else. Now the lemon suspiro for dessert was a winner! Wow was that ever sweet, creamy & smooth and amazingly delicious.
My husband had the lomo saltado which are tenderloin bits cooked in a fusion of Peruvian and Chinese seasonings. The lomo came with rice and french fries. His tenderloin had great flavor and was very tender. He also enjoyed his guava cheesecake but we both agreed that the lemon suspiro was just that much better.
The server was friendly and helpful with the menu, he definitely knew what he was talking about and was attentive.
I'm looking forward to visiting MIkuna again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vivian P.Miami, Estados Unidos5502922 oct 2018
This is my second time at Mikuna, the food and service was very good and their menu is reasonable priced. My husband ordered the spaghetti with churrasco, w huancaina sauce and it was delicious! I ordered the Mikuna Sampler and it was also delicious, i love tasting the 3 different sauces. For dessert we ordered the Maracuya cheesecake it was good, I liked the suspiro limeño better last visit. The cappuccino and coffee selections are very good. Very good for groups and parking was very accesible around the area.

He allows for changes in items thst accompany entrees....for instance, we substituted cilantro risotto for the navy been risotto. The cilantro risotto is a must try...absolutely EXCELLENT!!! VERY QUAINT atmosphere...a must try Peruvian cuisine. The ceviche were a must!!!

Francesco may be gone, but Mikuna has taken its place as the best Peruvian restaurant in the Gables. At the same location, in fact.
After Francesco's owners abandoned this prime spot, the former head server and chefs decided to start over.
Their efforts are immediately apparent. The lighting and tables have been updated, lending a brighter, more open ambiance. The large window is now left open for lunch service. The table service itself is as impeccable as ever. These are passionate, dedicated people.
As you'd hope, the food does not disappoint. The ceviches are impeccably fresh and vibrant. The papas a la huancaina are the real deal, sliced instead of mashed. We even ordered a shrimp tacu-tacu AND a mushroom tacu-tacu, both off-menu, and were eagerly accommodated.
I'm definitely looking forward to going back. This place deserves to become a go-to spot for anyone looking for exceptional Peruvian food, and not just in the Gables.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
