Does the bar stay open after 9pm? VIsiting next month and looking for somewhere to have drinks after dinner.

      A:

FishGaucho does close down pretty quickly after 9pm. But we own 3 other spots in town we would recommend. Right next door to Gaucho is CANE TiKi Room if you like tiki and tropical cocktails. If you like a good Irish Pub with a lively atmosphere… more

Absolutely delicious!! I was a bit skeptical about dining here since I am first generation and Mexican food is my daily but my husband and I gave it a shot due to the patio seating being a comfortable setting for our two small fur babies.
I'll start with the staff being super friendly and accommodating to our boys. they had plenty of room to sit/lay and take on the view of the patrons.
The food and service was excellent! Yes a bit "pricey for Mexican" but this isn't a hole in the wall fast food or a sit down where food is over salted or oily. They really do use fresh ingredients and create an elevated version of family favorites.
We started with chips and salsa that were crispy and fresh and the salsas (3) were flavorful and addicting. They do give you refills on this is needed but I'll share the portion was pretty generous.
My husband had the Chile Verde plate and he left the plate dry. The meat was juicy and tender with the jalapeño mashed potatoes and sunny side egg leaving you wanting more.
I had the sea bass that was cooked to perfection. Soft and buttery with the skin nicely crisped. The broccolini and mushrooms were exquisite.
For dessert we had the brown sugar butter cake. OMG!! what a treat. This was by far the best butter cake we've had. The fresh strawberries oozing out. the cream light and with a hint of tartness and the chocolate was just the icing it needed.
      My compliments to the chef!
This is a place I am willing to drive back 4 hours to just to enjoy another great meal.

We were a party of five and managed to get a good table. Decor and art work in the restaurant was interesting, ambience was nice. We took advantage of the happy hour and all got margaritas. They were good, at least you could taste the tequila in them, but the glasses were very small with only a few sips in them. This place charges for chips and salsa, but we got a bowl and they were good. Our waitress was very good and very attentive.
Three of us ordered the happy hour tacos. They were meh, at best. Nothing special, very small (even for a street taco) and $7.00 each. A comparable or better taco could be had at any taco joint for less than half the price. Each of us ordered the rice and beans side dish and all I can say is "yuck". The beans were old and had a little crust, indicating they had been kept warm for at least 24 hours or more. The rice was bland, had no taste. Also, if you order a Mexican dish, the beans and rice are not included. You have to pay the $7 if you want them, but trust me - you don't.
One friend had the sea bass for $35.00. She was really grossed out, said the fish tasted funny, and was not fresh. All of us left feeling ripped off and a little grossed out by the food. This is kind of a hipster place, the prices are high and the food quality is average at best. Might be good for a quick, high-price cocktail, but the food leaves a lot to be desired.

10/10 come here all the time. A local favorite staff is always accommodating and the ambiance is perfect for any occasion. Tequila flights are the way to go here but if you're a cocktail lover then there's plenty of choices, if you like oysters this is the only spot I recommend to get them in Paso Robles

This is a must go place in Downtown Paso Robles. We will be back and had an excellent patio dining experience. The Ahi Tuna Tacos were hands down the best thing we ordered. The build (the sauces, pickled onions and micro greens) on both that taco and the Halibut tacos is to die for. The scallops atop the sweet potato and coconut puree and peas was unique and full of texture.
The veges were all well seasoned. Also ordered the flan and a butter cake with strawberries and cream. The cake was much more dense than I expected but yummy and the flan had an almost cheesecake texture. Both delicious. The service was efficient and friendly and my husband and I both felt they cared about our order and was engaged in fun short conversation.

This place is located in downtown Paso Robles area. Recommend making reservations as it gets really packed after 7:00pm. The service was very quick! The servers were all very sweet and welcoming. The food here is absolutely delicious.

      Food review:

      Chips and salsa: 9/10
The different salsas were all delicious and very different in flavor. The chips were yummy too.

      Braised short rib: 9/10
Melt in your mouth beef. It was so so delicious. The jalapeño mashed potatoes are a must try.

Carnitas and short rib tacos: 9/10
The flavors were really good with the jam and different toppings. I liked the short rib ones a little better d/t the flavor of the meat. Tortillas were really good.

      Drinks:
      Strawberry basil: 7/10
Super sweet and flavorful. Really good!

      Smoke, fire, blood: 8/10
Blood Orange made with mezcal. Flavors blend together well.

      Mach 1: 8/10
Very cucumber, cilantro forward, but really good!

      Hell or High Water: 7/10
This drink was very delicious! I loved the big hibiscus rock and lavender was a nice touch.

Definitely recommend giving this place a try. I will be back to try more of the menu options.

      Delicious food and awesome service!

We were wine tasting nearby and was so hungry after. Luckily we were able to get a table for 9 people at 3:30pm on a Saturday. My friend and I shared the octo ceviche and the flat iron carne asada. The octo ceviche had good amount of octopus, and the carne asada was cooked perfectly to my liking (aka medium rare). Not to mention, the mashed potato was sooo good.

Our server provided high quality service. I did not get her name but she was great and really made the bday girl feel special.

I would definitely come back if I'm in the area!

Good food and quick service in a lively environment.

We came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. We got lucky and were able to sit at one of the high tops in the bar area.

They had a limited but good weekend lunch special menu that we decided to order from. We got the surf n' turf tacos, with the short rib for our turf, and the Oaxaca flocka Nachos. Both the short rib and fish tacos were fantastic! We had actually tried them the day before at a beer fest, and they were one of our favorite bites from the day. Nachos were good, the cheese was super rich, but the pickled onions helped cut through it.

From the regular menu we ordered the Aguachile, which came up in minutes. The fish was fresh and the sauce was full of flavor.

Would definitely come back here and order the tacos and Aguachile again.

      Wow factor, and unexpected.
      * From the outside, it looks alright. But inside, very nice and modern decor.
      * Menu is modern and smallish, not classic Mexican fare. Each of our foods were phenomenal.
      * 250 tequilas, beautiful cocktails, and outstanding wine selections.
      * Wonderful service

Guacamole and various salsas were very good, and I loved the chips -- fresh and not oily.

I had the carnitas tacos, mmm. 4 street tacos, totally delish. No sides, drats. I had a wonderful glass of wine, too.

Server was fantastic. Overall, loved. We'll be back again and again.

It's now in the Paso Robles top 3 restaurants along with Hatch and Il Cortile.

We were looking for somewhere to eat lunch while escaping the heat (it was 105 degrees that day), and we spotted Fish Gaucho's nice patio area. We arrived right when the restaurant opened for lunch and were seated right away. The restaurant has an upscale yet casual ambiance, and the indoor dining area was decked out with cool nautical decor.

The menu is centered around fish tacos, so I had to try the halibut tacos. Each taco platter is served in a series of four tacos - I split a plate with my mom, and this was just the right amount of food for a light lunch. The tacos were tasty and refreshing - crispy halibut was topped with pickled red onion, micro greens, and zippy mango habanero sauce. I wish the halibut had more flavor, but I enjoyed the creative toppings on the taco.

Our server was friendly and checked up on us frequently, and our food was brought out quickly. As we were wrapping up our early lunch, we
observed the lunch crowd tricking in around noon. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch at Fish Gaucho.
