Made a reservation for dinner, but it didn't seem necessary since there were so many tables. Tried the ham knuckle/spare rib platter for 4 people and the schinkenfleckerl (Austrian pasta with ham and topped with cheese). The ham knuckle/spare ribs were solid, with some super tender pieces, but some drier pieces. There was not a lot of potatoes with the dish. The pasta was just ok. It reminded me of a casserole. Didn't have much ham in it. The service was super fast here, maybe because our waiter was in a rush to go home

Really like this place. Waiters are attentive, beer is plentiful and good and the food selection is great. We sat outside and enjoyed the evening brisk air, people watching and enjoying our beer. The only beer I wasn't fond of was the spicy beer. I loved the "burn", that was spot on, but the actual beer taste was very flat, and destroyed the good burn I enjoyed. Unfortunately it cost us 9.50 euro to discover after two tastes but there was no offer of a taste since it comes in a flask. The other beers were all excellent and the farmers plate with various meats was delicious and easily split between the two of us, both of us having plenty to eat.

Stelze is out of this world! The food is just so good and I have been dreaming about eating there again. I will be back for sure!

Saw that it had great reviews for their beer and ribs so went after visiting Belvedere.
Low quality of meat and super overcooked as the spare ribs are like hard rocks. I would not go here for some fingerlickin' ribs.
Service is non existence and I've seen other reviews where the waiters will force you to tip a certain %. Please don't get bullied into it! This is abnormal as I've been to other restaurants and cafes in Vienna that don't do this.
Went during non peak hours with many empty tables but was sat in the under ground cave area that smelled like sewage. Staff was using this area to organize and prepare silverware & transporting tables and chairs for the actual restaurant floor.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 9 ene 2018
Came here for dinner on our first night in Vienna because it had great reviews and it was close to our hotel. My friend and I got there on a Sunday night at around 6:30 and there was a line that wrapped down the stairs (mind you, the place is pretty huge). It moved quickly though. We were seated in about 5 minutes or so.
For drinks, I really wanted to try a flight of their beers since they brew their own. But I always wanted to try some of their whiskey since they distill their own. Since I didn't want to be on the floor, especially not after just getting off a plane, being jetlagged and sleep deprived, I opted for a 2 oz. taste of the whiskey and one of the smaller sizes of the Salm Braeu Böhmisch, their dark beer. I didn't care for the whiskey, and the beer tasted a tad watered down.
For food, we decided to order a bunch of plate and share. For starters, we got the Beer Spread (secret recipe, hot and spicy smoked meat pate toasted with cheese). I really liked the flavor of this but I wish it wasn't so salty. The bread it was served with did help cut the saltiness a bit but not really by much. We also ordered the Vienna sausage (not canned) because we both wanted to try it. This tasted like a super smoky hot dog. I could have done without this. For the main entree, we had the pork hock for two but this could have easily served three people. Again, they love the overuse of salt here bc the pork hock was too salty (although not as salty as the beer spread). The skin was super crispy, which might be the only thing I really enjoyed out of this entire meal.
Aside from all the sodium, the other negative was that service was pretty slow. We got our menus, orders taken, and food out pretty quickly. But after that, our waiter pretty much ignored us. We would try to flag his attention and he'd look over and pretend he didn't see us. We finally got him to look at us and ask for the check, which never came even though he walked past our table a few times. Finally, I got up to ask him for the check again and he came around with it.
Maybe we went on a busy night and maybe we ordered the wrong menu items? But based on this experience, I probably wouldn't recommend Salm Brau.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 16 dic 2017
Had a very good salad here while looking around the Belvedere. Surprising actually because I was pretty bummed when I saw that we had walked into yet another Brauhaus after being seated.
Our server was gruff but good (we were told this is just the way they are in a Brauhaus).
The chef salad consisted of greens with tomato, cucumber, corn, strips of cheese and tender ham, with yoghurt dressing. It was fresh and delicious. I was really missing veggies so this hit the spot. The yogurt dressing was very very good. I'd like to know what it was so I could make it at home.
I also chose the Toscana Rye bread special which was served toasted with broccoli, tomatoes, pepper, sweet corn & mozzarella. It was pretty big and it was loaded with broccoli and veggies. NOM.
No complaints from me. Fast service, good food, decent price. It's definitely a place I'd recommend to others.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 17 jun 2020
It seemed like this restaurant is a Viennese chain place, which I try to avoid, but that said, I had a really delicious lunch here.
Their menu is traditional Austrian fare, heavy on the meat and sausages. HELLO, MY PEOPLE. Lots of beers, in sizes from reasonable to OMG.
I had a beer, some delicious sausages, and and INCREDIBLY delicious bowl of creamy garlic soup. That soup sounded somewhat unusual, and you don't often see that on the menu, so I had to have it. Creamy, garlicky and - wow, it was good.
Located just around the corner to the Belevedere Palace, it was my nod to mainstream tourism. After I viewed "the Kiss", I got garlic soup so no one would want to kiss me. Done!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 15 sept 2017
This place is wonderful. Full stop.
We had a short day in Vienna before our train to Prague. Our hotel was just on the other side of the train tracks from the Belvedere so we decided to spend our time there. On our way in to the castle grounds, we passed the entrance for Salm Bräu. I see the word for 'brewery' and I am IN. We decided we would try and make our way back here for a late lunch before our train.
After a couple hours at the Belvedere and the grounds, we made out way back to Salm. They have menus available in several different languages, and are very capable in speaking English. There is indoor seating, but even more outdoor space. We took a high top table just outside the door.
I wasn't terribly hungry so I just got the Kartoffelpuffer (potato patties), which were a-ok. They actually came with a salad as well, which pleased me!
We each opted for a sampler of their beers. And they are DELICIOUS. I liked every single beer they had to offer! So flavorful :-)
They aren't just a brewery either! They are also a distillery so they have some of their own schnapps and whiskey. I totally got a shot of some bierschnapps to end my meal with!
About when we were done eating, we asked if the cellar was accessible. Silly us...OF COURSE it is! I thought that it was just going to be a beer cellar, but it is a whole other room with bars and tables! It is only open in the evenings/at night, but our waitress took us down there and showed us around quick. It almost made me wish we had been able to come later in the day and been able to eat down there!
But the beer garden was absolutely wonderful. Even though it was packed with people, I didn't feel crazy cramped. And overall, it was priced very fairly.
As an experience, with good food and great beer and wonderful service: 5 STARS!!
I only wish I could go back again....right now!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Rodney W.Alexandria, Estados Unidos2714315 feb 2020
This place is a go to for some Austrian food and beer. Our group got the ribs which were very tasty, tender, and plentiful. It has a main level and a bottom level. We opted to sit in the basement which was a little less busy. The main level seemed to be where everyone was.
I suggest the beer cabbage as well for a side. The liter beer steins are huge.
The service and price were average for Vienna, but doesn't disappoint.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
